Had enough of high energy bills? The Great British Insulation Scheme might be the solution you’ve been looking for!

This government scheme administered by Ofgem aims to improve the energy efficiency of homes in Great Britain, reduce carbon emissions, and tackle fuel poverty. By upgrading your property with energy-efficient insulation through the scheme, you can significantly reduce your energy consumption and lower your annual energy bills. According to data, homeowners could potentially save £300 to £400 off their energy bills each year which can make a real difference to your cost of living.

Under this scheme, eligible properties can receive free insulation, whether it’s cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, or both. The type of insulation you receive is decided through a retrofit assessment that identifies the most effective changes to cut energy use and reduce carbon dioxide emissions or your property.

To qualify, your home must meet certain criteria, including being in council tax banding A to D and having an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D to G. Unlike other funding schemes, the Great British Insulation Scheme is not based on household income, making it accessible to a wider range of homeowners and tenants.

Running until April 2026, there is still plenty of time for you to benefit, so whether you have budgetary constraints or aspire to enhance the energy efficiency of your home, this scheme is here to help this winter.
