Half-term is coming up soon, and this time it’s for the Halloween season, so, we’ve collected a list of some of the spookiest events happening in West Yorkshire for you and the kids.
It’s time to get the Halloween costumes out and see what is happening in your local area alongside your trick-or-treating.
Haunted Haworth Ghost Tours
Join local ghostologist and student of folklore, Adam Sargant, in a Haunted Haworth Ghost Tour as you explore the atmosphere of this iconic West Yorkshire village. Listen to tales of phantoms and spectres that haunt the cobbled streets where the legendary Brontë sisters wrote their novels and the spirits of Branwell remain.
The ghost tours run through to November 22nd and are a great fright for you and the whole family.
Tickets for the walk start at £7.

Half-term pumpkin trail
Take a stroll through East Riddlesden Hall, find the hidden pumpkins and figure out the word hidden on the way. The 17th-century hall is bound to make the most spectacular venue for a pumpkin trail, and the activities are just as exciting as the location. This is a great activity for the kids to let off some steam while they are home from school, and an entertaining day out for the adults too, exploring the exquisite grounds of East Riddlesden Hall.
The pumpkin trail is open 10am-4pm from Saturday 26 October – Wednesday 30 October and costs just the charge of Normal admission into the grounds, with National Trust members exempt.
The Spooky Express
All aboard The Spooky Express at Keighley.Have the fright of your life on a journey along the Worth Valley, with a round trip from Oxenhope to Keighley. Make sure to look out for skeletons, ghosts and little monsters as you take a tour of West Yorkshire in specially decorated carriages.
Get dressed up in your best costume and arrive at Oxenhope Station for your allocated train, ride the rails and visit the museums on the day of your booking too with the included Day Rover. Get booked in from Tuesday 29 October up until the day of Halloween, Thursday 31 October, for some serious jump scares. Guide price for tickets on the day is £22 per adult and £15 per child.
Owls in the Abbey
Meet some feathered friends from the Wise Owl Bird of Prey Rescue at Owls in the Abbey.You can see some of these amazing creatures at Kirkstall Abbey, just North of Leeds, and support the charity as well as admire these gorgeous birds.
Enjoy this unique opportunity to get up, close and personal with some owls, all included in your admission fee (and free for Leeds residents). The Wise Owl Bird of Prey Rescue welcomes donations for photos with the birds in support of their charity. Join the party on Tuesday 29 October 10am – 3pm.
