Announced in May as winners of the City of Culture for 2025, Bradford is preparing to deliver over 1000 new performances and events across the district. But until 2025, what cultural experiences can you expect when moving to Bradford?

We have collated a few of our current favourite days out, restaurants, and outdoor spaces for you below!

Days Out

Bradford is so much more than just the city centre, with historic villages, museums and art galleries spread out across the region.

Haworth

Haworth is a quiet village set on the edge of the Pennines which welcomes visitors from across the world to visit the famous Brontë parsonage. The Brontë sisters wrote some of their most famous work whilst living in Haworth, and their home is now the Brontë Parsonage Museum.

Several walking routes lead out of the village, offering picturesque views of Lower Laithe Reservoir, Top Withens and Brontë Falls. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced walker, Haworth and the Pennines offer some fantastic scenery.

Back in the village, a selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants wait for you to sit back, relax and enjoy the end of your day. Pavé, The Hawthorn and Haworth Steam Brewery are all popular, highly rated choices.

Saltaire

UNESCO World Heritage site, Saltaire was previously a Victorian industrial village and features beautiful Italianate architecture.  Today, Saltaire is still a close-knit village with 1000 people working in Salts Mill.

In the 1853 gallery at Salts Mill you will find a large number of paintings, etchings and drawings from Bradford-born artist David Hockney. Like all of the Mill, the 1853 gallery is free to enter, making it a fantastic day out if you are on a budget.

Restaurants & Bars

There are too many incredible restaurants across the Bradford region to list them all. So here are just a few of our favourites.

Prashad

Named curry capital of Britain six years in a row, there is no doubt that food is a huge part of the culture in Bradford. Within the city there is a huge range of curry houses to suit all appetites, including the famous Prashad.

First established in 1992, Prashad serves authentic and fresh Indian food, produced with locally sourced ingredients. In 2012 the restaurant moved to a new site in Drighlington, a fantastic location which is easily accessible from across Bradford and the Yorkshire region via the M62. Prashad is the only Indian restaurant in Yorkshire to be awarded two AA rosettes, and was the runner-up in Gordon Ramsay’s TV programme, Ramsay’s Best Restaurant, back in 2010. The restaurant has also been named in the Good Food and Michelin Guides, so make sure to book a table when visiting this award-winning restaurant!

MyLahore

British Asian kitchen chain, MyLahore, are celebrating 20 years since opening their flagship Bradford restaurant in 2002.

Rooted in Yorkshire, MyLahore offers a wide-ranging menu from familiar Indian dishes to British family favourites. The restaurant serves up everything from classic steaks to stir-fry and traditional curries.

Green Spaces & The Great Outdoors

Lister Park

Lister Park is one of Bradford’s six Green Flag parks and is the home to Cartwright Hall Museum and Art Gallery.

At 55 acres, the park is a fantastic open space for events, and if you are interested in running, every Saturday, you can take part in the weekly park run.  Within the park you will find the stunning Mughal Gardens, a boating lake, café and bandstand, along with a variety of wildlife throughout the year.

You can find the entrance for Lister Park on North Park Road, BD9, just a mile outside of the city centre.

Peel Park

Peel Park is one of Bradford’s largest and oldest parks. Originally opened in 1853, the park offers beautiful gardens, a BMX track, tennis courts, a children’s play area, a café, plus much more.

The entrance to Peel Park is on Bolton Road, BD2 and is the perfect large community outdoor space for homes in the Highfield area.
